My grandmother's living room prominently featured a desk, as well as a sofa, arm chairs, and coffee table. It was decorated in a California 1920s style, a smaller and more ramshackle variation on the rooms in English estate houses. Her living room was exactly like the one here captioned "Desk in the Center of the Room." The desk was to the left; the standard sofa grouping faced the fireplace. Interesting observation.
