Our house had no insulation when we purchased it. Last summer I started to work on insulating our attic but stopped because it was so hot. A 95 degree day probably isn’t the best time to be working in an even hotter attic!
We have had a mild winter so far this year but now the time has come for me to face squeezing myself up through the small access panel into the attic and pulling the insulation up through the small opening behind me. I’ll be braving layers of dirt, mummified rats, and pigeon skeletons.
I LOVE that you can rent trucks from Home Depot by the hour. It beats the heck out of taking multiple trips to Home Depot in the car.
David unloading the truck so I can get going on my new project. Hint, hint!

Hello–I know I’m going to be studying your site over and over. We just closed on a smaller 1917 Craftsman bungalow here in Butte, MT that is going to require A LOT of renovation! Bones are good but boy, oh boy, the layers of crud we are removing. The cheap 80′s panelling is gone and most of the three layers of wallpaper in the living/dining area, but we are facing months of white paint removal. Fortunately we don’t live in it yet! My big problem right now is that due to space, the washer and dryer were plumbed into the bathroom. My plan is to move it to a large closet area just off the kitchen. I don’t think moving 220 wiring down from the stove area will be a problem but I am a little worried about venting the dryer and getting those pipes moved. Guess I’ll call a plumber and prepare for a big bill.
So glad to see you back. Looking forward to hearing more about your new project!
so glad i check in! just nice to see/hear y’all…happy christmas!
Oh no! not the attics again! I remember helping you guys place the insulation and it wasn’t very fun. Make sure you cover yourself up!
